What economic benefits does Budget 2025 offer? 

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to unveil Budget 2025 on October 18 in the Parliament, marking his final budget before the conclusion of the 12th Malaysia Plan. (2021 - 2025).

Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan underlined the ministry's commitment to advancing fiscal reforms in Budget 2025, which are consistent with the Fiscal Responsibility Act's medium-term aims of reducing deficits and managing debt sustainably.

The Budget 2025 intends to navigate the country through a new economic direction by setting out measures and programmes to be implemented next year. It comes in conjunction with the goals of achieving "Madani Economy: Strengthening the People", which was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar.

About Budget 2025 Proposal

In Malaysia, federal budgets are presented annually by the Government. The Budget includes the government’s estimation on revenues and expenditure as well as the forecast of the economic conditions for the coming year. 

According to the latest Pre-budget 2025 statement by Ministry of Finance (MoF), it's important to know that Budget 2025 will focus on three important thrusts of the Ekonomi MADANI framework with the following objectives:

Raise the Ceiling
Aims to restructure the economy and boost national competitiveness, catapulting Malaysia into an economic leader in the Asian region.
Raise the Floor
Aims to improve the quality of life for all Malaysians to ensure equality of opportunities, a decent standard of living and social protection for all.

Governance &  Reformation
Aims to enhance transparency, efficiency and accountability in the Government, as they serve as a fulcrum for achieving the first two goals.

The importance of Budget 2025

In Malaysia, filing taxes is an obligation, and paying taxes is a liability. Taxpayers make a significant contribution to federal government finances, which are funded through revenues, including taxes, fees, and other receipts collected from various sectors.

The largest source of revenue comes from taxpayers through the taxes they have previously paid, which are injected into the country's economy. The Belanjawan Madani 2025 is expected to be a balanced, people-centric budget that fosters economic growth while addressing the immediate needs of the rakyat (people) and ensuring long-term sustainability for the nation. It will provide a roadmap to achieving Malaysia’s vision of a progressive, equitable, and sustainable future.
